Carpentry Tutor Level 3

About the role:

Oceania Career Academy (OCA) has developed a tremendous reputation for getting work ready Pacific youth into great careers in the construction industry.  Key to this success is the team we have.  Join us if you have been working as a tutor in construction and are now looking for an opportunity to make a difference in the Pacific community and have the right blend of experience and enthusiasm for young people, this may be your ideal role.  We have Level 3 Trades Tutor positions available now at the Oceania Career Academy for programmes preparing students for employment in the construction trades.  The role includes working with the management team on the development of the organisation and proposals for initiatives in educational transitions to skilled work and higher education within the wider Pacific peoples’ social context.

Competitive salary / 40 hours a week.  The role is located at the OCA Campus in the Airport Oaks Training Precinct in Mangere.

About You:

We are looking for someone with the vision, skills and trade training qualifications and experience to unleash the potential of Pacific students and set them on the path to lifelong skilled employment this is your chance. As the Tutor you will

• Assist to design and deliver training programmes in a manner that is consistent with the priorities and culture of OCA
• Use current best practice to support the highest training standards and to provide a positive student learning experience
• Along with specialist mentors provide pastoral support to students necessary to ensure their retention and success
• Actively engage with OCA stakeholders including commercial enterprises to maintain currency, relevance and credibility of the programme
• Support and contribute actively to the operation of OCA, including through membership of committees and project teams
