About Us2023-09-04T18:26:42+13:00

Oceania Career Academy (OCA) has been providing Pasifika and South Auckland youth with pathways into the building industry since 2015.

  • Our highly popular Trades at School (TAS) mentoring programme helps Year 12 and 13 students bridge the gap between secondary school and a great job
  • Our FREE Level 2 and 3 construction courses are stepping stones to apprenticeships and skilled employment in the building sector
  • Our 12-week MSD (Ministry of Social Development) Ignition programme boosts industry skills and work readiness in a post-Covid world

At OCA we specialise in training people for the construction industry. But that’s just the beginning. Our ultimate goal? Addressing Pasifika under-achievement in education and employment and fostering economic prosperity in Pasifika families.

Since 2015, more than 300 students have successfully completed our programmes, and of those, 71% are now working in the industry and 17% have gone onto higher level studies. With excellent outcomes like these, it’s no wonder construction employers are knocking on our door for our trainees.

OCA works in partnership with industry to deliver qualified, skilled, professional and motivated tradespeople into the workforce.

Our goal? To see more young Pacific people in sustained, higher  paid employment, providing what industry demands.

How do we achieve this? By working with industry through every aspect of our programmes, including:

  • Pre-screening students
  • Development of training, skills and employment programmes
  • Matching student and employer needs

By working together, we inspire Pasifika youth to be the best they can be – outstanding students, employees, parents and leaders, not just within their families, but within their communities.

Every year OCA graduates go on to achieve great things, building their careers in trades.

Sure, there are challenges along the way, but the continuing support and guidance of OCA’s alumni network gives graduates the very best chance of lifelong success.

  • Ongoing mentoring, pastoral care, career planning and assessment support
  • Find out about new job opportunities through our industry contacts
  • Receive invites to networking events
  • Get help with workplace and training issues
  • Stay up to date with the latest industry news
